5 Fridays – New York City

This week I am going to share with you 5 of my photographs from trips I have taken to my favourite place, New York City.

I first got the New York bug when I visited with my sister at the end of August 2009. I absolutely fell in love with the place and have since been May/June 2011, September 2012, December 2014 (Ad and I got married on this trip), October 2015, December 2015 and December 2016.

We go again in the last week of this month and again in February next year – no wonder we never have any money!

Below are 5 of my favourite photographs I have taken in NYC.

Quite heavily edited this one, but one of my favourites. Comes out well when printed on acrylic, with the red shining through strong and dominating.

The combination of lines, curves and contours and the black and white, has helped this  photograph remain one of my favourites. I don’t even mind the dirty glass as it is just like the lives we all lead… not perfect!

Took this shot on a Night Photo Tour. I was travelling alone on that trip and wanted to get some good night shots and felt less conspicuous as part of a group. I think the Chrysler is one of the most beautiful buildings in New York and Grand Central is one of my favourite places in the whole city, so I look fondly on this image.

What a hot day it was when my sister and I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, back in 2011. It took us ages because we were stopping to take so many photographs. This is one of my favourites I took that day.

When I edited this, I made it black and white to try and give it a 1940s feel. It is nowhere near a technically correct image, but I think of it as a little fun and reminiscent of another time.
