Keeping it Simple

My hair is in bad shape and requires more time and attention than I care to give it at the moment. In an ideal world, I would have my hair blonde, similar to how it is in this photo from 5 years ago.

Unfortunately, it is too expensive to maintain this colour, so I am going to get a semi-permanent brunette colour all over to keep it simple and more cost effective. I’ve done this a few times over the past few years, but always return to the blonde, probably because I’ve been a blonde most of my life and it suits my fair skin better.

I like the shades in the photos below, the bottom right hand one in particular, but that would include highlights as well, which would add to the cost and I’m trying to save some money. I’ve had a number of bad experiences with home kits and therefore prefer to get it done at a salon.

Of these four pictures, which do you prefer?

  1. Depending in the color used, some colors can seem to have dimension and highlights even with a single color. Talk to the person that does your hair and ask for recommendations. I don’t know the brand the lady that does mine uses, but there is something about it that really makes it look like there is way more than just a single color layered in. I’m sure part of that is how it reacts to the gray parts that it is covering, but it is still more interesting than a flat color.

    1. I have noticed in the past that when I get a semi-permanent done on top of old existing highlights, that there are a number of tones running through it. I hope this is the case this time too, as I do have old highlights at the moment. Seeing a new hairdresser this time, so hopefully she will have some fresh ideas too.
